The idea is to die young as late as possible

It seems to be universally accepted that once you have lived for five decades you need to pay very close attention to your health and increase your physical activity.

Just when you feel like heading for the couch for an afternoon of Netflix, it is far better for you to get moving and keep moving.

The bad news is that you need to move every day, even if it is only to walk for 30-60 minutes. Then you need to top it off with weight-bearing exercises and stretching several times a week as well.

As difficult as it is to get motivated, it is probably the biggest gift you can give yourself.

January is when you should visit your GP and have your annual health check - mammogram for women and prostate for men; blood pressure, cholesterol, skin cancer - all the tests your doctor will want you to have every year.
